~ madhubani painting: the reformed good son ~
Having been thoughtless and cruel to his parents, Purna-Dasa comes to his senses when they are at last old and blind. He carries them along a full round of pilgrimage sites. At one point beckoned by Krishna, he refuses to take his full attention from his parents -- and is regarded as being entirely justified in this attitude of late-developing filial devotion. Before it was too late, he became a model of support for parents in their old age. Return to the Painting Index of the exhibit. |
